Shiona Moodley
Shiona Moodley is the Head of the Rock Art Department at the National Museum. She is a graduate of the Rock Art Research Institute at the University of Witwatersrand.
Shiona is the author of the book Koma: Expressions of cultural identity that explores boys’ initiation rock art of the Northern Sotho. Her research focus is Bantu-speaking initiation rock art, historical rock art and rough-pecked Khoekhoen engravings in southern Africa.
She is the author of a number of research articles and has collaborated on Norwegian and French research projects. Shiona is devoted to teaching the public about the value of conserving rock art and promoting South African heritage.
