Louise Coetzee

Louise CoetzeeLouise Coetzee (retired) was employed at the National Museum in the Acarology department from 1981 to 2016. During her long career at the museum she obtained an M.Sc Zoology and Ph.D. Zoology from the University of the Free State, where she was also appointed as associated researcher.

Louise was a dedicated scientist and acarologist, publishing more than 30 papers and describing five new genera and 36 new species of soil mites. She collaborated with acarologists all over the world from countries such as the Netherlands, Austria, Germany and China. One genus and five species of soil mites were named in honour of her.
