Hendrik Snyders
Hendrik Snyders is a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Military Studies at the SA Military Academy, Saldanha and a research associate at the Department of History, Free State University. In addition, he serves on the editorial committee of Sporting Traditions, the Journal of the Australian Sport History Society.
His research focuses on the military, civil-military relations, legislative violence, race, sport, masculinity, memory, heritage, memory, public history and colonialism. Hendrik graduated with a PhD (history) from the University of Stellenbosch.
He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes and has co-authored Tries and Conversions: South Africans in Rugby League with Peter Lush of London League Publishers (London, U.K.). His most recent publication is titled, Blitzboks: A History of Rugby Sevens in South Africa, c. 1904- 2019 (Naledi – (Published on 21 May, 2021).
