Andries Strauss started his research journey at the Grootfontein Agricultural College in 2002. His initial research projects included research for the Interactive wool group in Freemantle, Australia, in 2002 on the OFDA2000 for wool analysis.
Since 2003 he has worked as a Production Scientist (small stock/ predation) at DARD, Free State Province (Glen), with a research focus on all sectors of the sheep enterprise. He is an international judge in sheep shearing (Bath, England) and wool handling (Gorey, Ireland) and IFAMA’s world champion in 2020. Currently, he is busy with his Ph.D. in the wool value chain at the Department of Sustainable Food Systems and Development, University of the Free State.
