Zingisile Mbo

Zingisile Mbo joined the National Museum in 2023. He has worked across the Ornithology and Animal and Plant Systematics Departments, obtaining valuable practical work experience as an Intern Museum Scientist until the end of 2024. On completion of his internship, he has continued to obtain practical work experience (WBE) at the National Museum to develop as a Museum Scientist. He graduated from the University of the Free State with a Master of Science degree in Entomology. Since joining the Museum, Zingi has been afforded the opportunity to join the Museum researchers in the field, supporting them on some of the Departments research initiatives on birds in the Free State as well as Botany Projects. He has been involved in bird ringing, preparatory work, curation,  collection management and assisting in the Museum’s herbarium and with the live animals. Zingi has also recorded observations for the South African Bird Atlas Project (sabap2).
