Image: Minister Zizi Kodwa signs with Dr Edwin Mohatlane (deputy chair) and Sharon Snell (CEO) of the National Museum

The National Museum attended a meeting with new minister, Zizi Kodwa at Artscape in Cape Town on 2 June 2023.  The minister signed the Shareholder Compact with the National Museum. The Shareholders Compact is a Memorandum of Understanding between the DSAC and the National Museum which sets out what is expected between both parties in terms of the planned deliverables for Financial Year 2023/24.

The Minister in his opening remarks, encouraged robust engagement with the primary focus on the entities areas of weakness and finding ways to strengthen and capacitate where necessary. He encouraged a move away from being events driven entities towards the space of contributing to social cohesion and nation building. He encouraged everyone to find ways on how we best become catalysts of social cohesion.

He reminded the entities that they are the ones who are equipped to bring positive mood in the country, the ones who are entrusted with bringing inspiration and hope to the people. He said that as a country we are going through so much and our entities are the ones who can assist with changing the mood in the country.
