One of the founding members of the African National Congress (ANC) Walter Benson Rubusana was born on 21 February 1885. He was one of the most prominent Africans of his time.

The severe flooding which occurred in many parts of the country recently has caused real panic among communities in low-lying areas. The rising levels of dams and rivers, particularly the Vaal River, triggered evacuation orders for people living in danger zones.
August 2020 marked an end of an era since Volksblad ended their print format. The office building that housed the Volksblad for more than a 100 years was recently sold and the Media24 team is in the process of moving to new premises.
