Karoo Disclosure was a multimedia collaborative art project that focused on the effects of shale gas exploration (fracking) on the land, the people and the environment of the semi-desert region of the Karoo. The Karoo Disclosure collaborators included artists working in performing arts, photography, costume, sound, video, installation and sculpture. Eight scientists from the Museum joined the project to create a new installation for Oliewenhuis. The installation consisted of objects, study skins, skulls and specimens from the Museum’s research collections that relate to the Karoo region. The Karoo Disclosure exhibition was complemented by selected artworks from the Permanent Collection of Oliewenhuis Art Museum.
